Favourite Instagram Accounts: Fashion.

Fashion is something I am really passionate about, I love the individuality of it and how it can be used to express something, almost like an art form. I love creating outfits, sometimes they can be slightly quirky. My most prized possession is a pair of sliver boots from office, I was heckled by a homeless man in New York who shouted “Girl, you’ve got your own style”, still one of my favourite compliments to date. Sometimes when I struggling with what to wear, I look to Instagram, so here our my favourites…

Megan Ellaby – I first came across Megan when she worked as Stylist at ASOS, I was initially drawn to her as we have a similar style mostly inspired by the 60s/70s. Megan is one of my favourite people whom I’ve never met and since following her, I have been able to embrace my own personal fashion tastes and wear items with such confidence. She puts lots of effort into her blog, youtube and Instagram content, if you ever need some style inspiration she is the girl to go to. We also share a birthday and I couldn’t think of a nicer person to share a birthday with.

Fashion Influx – Lydia Rose is new on my radar but her style is just to die for, as is her Instagram page. My favourite thing about Lydia is her use of high street stores, nothing worse when you see a killer outfit that is nowhere near your price range. Her blog also has links to all the outfits from her Instagram post, so you can rock your favourite looks too. I also love the variation of her outfits, always feel inspired after visiting her page.

In the Frow – I followed Victoria Magrath, on recommendation from Megan and wondered why I hadn’t followed her sooner. Victoria, is so educated about fashion, she even has a PHD and her styling is just beautiful. She has a mix of designer to high street, so there is something for everyone. The quality of her photos on Instagram are just stunning, and you can see the effort she puts in. I’m excited to see whats to come in 2018.

If you are looking for a dose of style inspiration, I would recommend giving these lovelies a follow. Also comment below with your favourites.

Topshop Personal Shopping Experience

whilst browsing on Topshop’s website, I saw they have a personal styling service and after feeling like I’m stuck in a rut with my fashion/styling choices, I decided to do some research. After reading a few blog posts and information provided on the Topshop website, I thought why not.

It’s a complimentary service and there is no obligation to buy anything. You start by selecting the type of session you wish  i.e Complete wardrobe overhaul or the birthday, I choose “newer than now”, it’s a 60 minute session which gives you items for the upcoming trends. You complete a small questionnaire online then select a stylist of  your choice depending on your selected store. I selected Sophie Antropik at Topshop Oxford Circus.

I arrived at my appointment early, so waited on a lovely velvet sofa, until Sophie greeted me and took me into a changing room with a selection of outfits hanging on rail. She had selected around 10 outfits for me, which we chatted through. The outfits selected suited my style down to a tee. There were some pieces I wouldn’t usually go for, but absolutely loved. Sophie was lovely and so helpful, she popped in and out of my changing room to see how I was getting out, got me different sizes or styles if I needed them. The hardest part of the session was deciding the pieces to take home. In the end I bought a pair of jeans, a blazer and 2 skirts, if I was in a different financial situation, I would have bought it all!

If any of you fancy adding some new pieces to your wardrobe or a complete change of style, I recommend booking yourself a Topshop personal shopping service.

I have grown a lot as individual and achieved things I never imagined I would. At the beginning of 2017, I wrote a post about an idea I saw on Facebook, where you start off with an empty jar and add notes throughout the year about something positive. What I got for Christmas.

I’m always dubious about writing a post about this kind of thing, I don’t want it to come across as boastful or showing off. But I love watching “what I got for Christmas” videos of YouTube, so I thought I’d share some of the gifts I received this year.

I told my family I had everything I needed and wanted, so hadn’t asked for anything specific but they surprised me as usual with some really thoug2017-12-28 17.08.38htful gifts. From my older sister I received a House of Holland wonder cube from the Bodyshop. I haven’t ever seen anything like this from the Bodyshop before. It contains a mixture of 9 Bodyshop products from their vitamin E face cream to cute polar bear eye mask. It comes in this cool cube you can move around, bit like a Rubix’s cube. I can’t wait to have a pamper night.

img_3830As a complete fluke, my eldest sister bought me a jumper from H&M which I nearly bought a few weeks ago, after seeing Megan Ellaby in it, but I completely forgot about it. I love the contrast between the blue and orangey/coral, it’s also available in black and white. She also bought me these gorgeous purple tassel earring from Next which are my new obsession.

My Mum bought me a lovely black and rose gold watch from Abbott London. I have really small wrist, so find it difficult to find a watch that doesn’t look ridiculously big. But this looks lovely and its feels very light. I love the black colour as it goes with everything, the touch of rose gold, just adds something more.

I was treated to a Soap and Glory’s spa of wonder from my lovely Grandma. I have loved soap and glory for years, their products smell amazing and feel my skin feeling super 2017-12-28 17.15.07soft. It contains a whopping 11 full size products including some of their make up products. This will keep my skin feeling super soft well into 2018.

I received a few more bits which were quite personal to me, so I have mainly included items for gift inspiration, if you have any birthdays coming up in January. I am truly grateful for the gifts I got this christmas but thing I enjoyed the most was spending some quality time with my family.

This is my last post of 2017, wishing you all a happy new year and the best for 2018.

2018 Goals.

I hope you all had a christmas as lovely as mine and ready to face the new year. As 2017 draws to an end, I’ve turned my attention to setting some goals for 2018. Every year for the past 3 years, I written myself a list of things I want to achieve/do throughout the year. This year I achieved 6/9 goals, which is the most I have ever achieved, I hope next year I can achieve all of them. I find it more effective than new years resolutions which I never stick to. My goals are mainly focused around travelling to new places and experiencing new things. 2018 is the year I finish my degree, so it should be a very exciting year indeed. I wanted to make the most of being a student before re-joining the working world of adulthood.

What are your goals for this year?

A day in Brighton

Every year I write myself a list of things I want to achieve throughout the year. One of the items of my list was to visit 2 new places, I visited Manchester In august, which you can read about here, to tick this off my list I decided to visit Brighton. I was surprised to find I had never visited Brighton before, despite it being an hours train journey away. making the most of my 18-25 rail-card, I booked myself a ticket to the seaside.

The first thing I did upon arrival was walk to the sea front and wonder along the beach. It was a chilly morning, so there wasn’t many people about, the odd runner and a crazy couple taking a dip in the sea! I’ve always found something peaceful about being by the sea, especially on a calm day and breathing in fresh sea air is a welcome break from London pollution.

As the day progressed the sun came out, it was such a beautiful day to wonder around the Lanes. Made up of narrow streets filled with independent shops, perfect way to spend a morning. I met a friend for coffee who I hadn’t seen for ages, it was lovely to catch up. I finished the day off by taking a look at the Royal Pavillon. I love looking a different types of architecture, so I was excited to see such a beautiful building.

Overall I had a really enjoyable day in Brighton and I look forward to exploring more new places next year.

Bluebella Ambassador.

After working with the Brand, Bluebella, in September this year for their Dare to bare campaign (read here) I was asked to be a brand ambassador. It such an unexpected but exciting email to receive. I jumped at the chance to work with a company with a great ethos, without a second guess. They also were also the winner of “Lingerie Brand of the year” at the Draper awards, which is very much deserved.

My 1st role as brand ambassador was to style some of their pieces for the upcoming party season. They kindly sent me this beautiful Black Wren kimono and trouser set (which also comes in blush pink). I’ve created 3 party looks, showing how versatile the outfit is, I can’t wait to rock these look in the next few weeks.

Outfit 1
Outfit Number 1 – I styled the Kimono with an A-line floral mini skirt from River Island, with fish-net tights to add a bit of edge to the outfit.
Outfit 2 – This is slightly more causal as it paired with Topshop Joni jeans in grey with killer heels. A little flash off bra underneath adds a bit of sexiness to the outfit.
Outfit 3
Outfit 3 – Wearing the Kimono and Trousers together for a relaxed outfit, but having the crop top and some skin on show, makes the outfit party ready.

I had so much fun creating different outfits which really inspired me to push the boat out a bit more when it comes to dressing for a party. You can shop the wren set here or check out Bluebella website for more inspiration. I look forward to my next project as a Bluebella Ambassador.

Favourite Fitness Instagram accounts.

I’ve worked in a gym since the age of 19 and I’m in the final year of my physiotherapy degree, so I’ve always been passionate about health and fitness. I was originally reluctant to look to other health professionals as I felt “I should know this” but once I got rid of that silly attitude I realised how much I could learn from others. My exercise repertoire has grown massively and I regular throw ideas around with one of the personal trainers I work with, to create variations of exercises.

With so many people online to follow it can be very overwhelming and there are a lot of people giving out incorrect information. So here is my round-up of my favourites that I regularly look to for workout inspiration and motivation, whom also provide education to ensure you train the right way and avoid injury. I hope this inspires you to add some new accounts to you Instagram feed.

Grace Fit uk – I hadn’t exercised properly for over 6 months due to anxiety, so I was looking for a fitness inspiration online to get me back into exercise when I came across Grace and her fitness guide. I’ve worked in a gym for the past 4 years and have a personal training qualification, but the anxiety meant I had difficulties trying to plan gym session, the guide was so structured that it took away that problem.  The guide got me back into exercising regularly and sent my confidence through the roof, I will always be thankful for that. Grace is such a positive person and has created such a positive community online, which is great to be part of. If you’re interested in weight training or growing a booty, Grace is the girl for you.

Grace’s Guides.

Shona Vertue – Is a personal trainer and yoga teacher. She recently bought out a book called The Vertue Method, it’s a 28 day reset plan, including mediation, exercise and food. The book is full of so much information, so you understand exactly what you are doing and why. Shona is huge advocate of being strong and healthy over aesthetic.  If you want to learn more about exercise I strongly recommend purchasing her book or following her online. I’m going to start her re-set plan after my exams have finished.

Cat Meffan – I first discovered Cat when I took part in one of her yoga classes at Be Fit London in April this year. It was such a fun experience and she made yoga feel accessible, like anyone can do it. On her yoga channel she posts a mixture of yoga flows of varying styles and length of time, as well as Travel vlogs, hauls and personal videos.  I love the variety of flows she offers, meaning you can pick one to suit your mood, and she is also a ray of sunshine. When I’m ever feeling stressed or in need of a good stretch I pop on one of her videos. If you want to get into yoga, or need some guidance, Cat is definitely one to follow.

Alice Liveing – formerly known as Clean Eating Alice. I bought Alice’s 3rd book, Everyday fitness. This book is perfect for beginners as she includes lots of education about the anatomy, so I highly recommend it. My favourite thing about Alice is she is perfect example you can be strong and weight train as a woman without being bulky. She has a wide variety of exercises and workouts on her Instagram with cues how to perform the exercise properly. I really enjoy her workouts, feeling I’ve worked hard without feeling exhausted. I practically have all her videos saved to my Instagram collections.

Lilly Sabri – Lilly was another person I discovered at Be Fit London. I was drawn to her as she is a sports physiotherapist and I’m in the final year of my degree. I recently completed her 5 Day kick-start challenge. I’ve been a bit slack with exercise due to being a university placement, so this was perfect to get me back into regular exercise. Each workout consisted on 20 minute cardio/fat burning HITT session, followed by strength and condition and intense ab workouts. She goes into detail about correct technique to ensure you get the best muscle activation. In 4 days she had my gluts (bottom muscles) burning and abs more defined. Lilly is such a supportive person, after putting in my Instagram story I was taking part in the challenge, she DM’d me saying well done and asked me how I found it. She is perfect for those with little time, her workouts are usually 10-20 minutes long and you’ll feel worked out, trust me.

Dare to Bare?

BlueBella-030917-029Yes I’m standing in the middle of Oxford Circus in my underwear, I can’t believe I did it either!

To celebrate the Start on London Fashion week, Bluebella did a casting call on their Instagram seeking “confident girls” for a unique opportunity. After reciting cognitive behavioural therapy to deal with my anxiety and having made such amazing progress I thought I would really test my new found confidence and self love. I applied and was inviting to a casting. A week after that I received the exciting news I had been successful.

The next thing I know it’s 7am on Sunday 3rd September and I’m on my way to oxford circus. We met in a bar where we had our makeup and hair touched up and got changed into outfits. It suddenly became very real, in a few hours I would be in the street, in my knickers. The room was filled with gorgeous girls filled with fear and excitement of what we were about to do.

Bluebella is a London Based lingerie company, which I have been a fan of for ages. They create beautiful underwear that makes you feel confident, not to mention hot as hell and at reasonable prices. They stand for body confidence and empowering women. Underwear should be worn for you, I feel great when I have beautiful underwear, even if no-one sees it, it makes ME feel confident and happy.

Would you dare to bare?

Summer goals revisited…

So, my 7 week summer holidays have come to an end. At the start of my summer holidays, I wrote a post about my goals for the summer, which you can read here. I set myself 5 goals, aiming to give my 7 weeks off some structure.

  1. Visit 2 new cites – I half achieved this one. I visited Manchester  but was unable to get to another city due to work. I had lovely weekend in Manchester with my sister, it was fun to explore another city and we ate some amazing food, you can read about my weekend in Manchester here. I’ll be carrying this goal forward with me, aiming to visit a new european city around christmas time for the christmas markets.
  2. Try a new sport – I went to my 1st ever touch rugby session, which was the most fun I’ve had exercising for ages. It was fast paced, and once I started to understand the rule more, I really started to enjoy it. I’m looking forward to this become a permanent fixture in my fitness routine.  After 7 years of quitting track training, I attended a session at my local athletics club. It was daunting at 1st because I haven’t done it for so long and was completely unaware of my ability. Its something I have always regretted, so I’m so pleased I finally plucked up the courage to go back. If you thinking about going back to something, do it!
  3. Take more pictures – This was definitely a fail, I look some photos whilst in Manchester, otherwise I didn’t even touch my camera. I am disappointed with this, but with Autumn on its way, looking forward to photographing the beautiful colours.
  4. Discover somewhere new in London – Although I didn’t discover somewhere new in London, I rekindled my love for places I haven’t visited for finished for many years such as Camden Market and Regents Park. I’ll definitely keep exploring.
  5. Write more blog post – This improved as the summer went on, I plan to post new pieces every Tuesday and Thursday, this is another I will be carrying forward.

Here are some highlights:

  • Champagne afternoon tea with my best friend at Tower 42, read about it here.
  • After winning a Facebook competition I met one of inspirations, Jessica Ennis. It was such an amazing opportunity to meet someone who you aspire too, and she was absolutely lovely.
  • I attended the World Athletic Championships at the Olympic stadium. I have always been a fan of Athletics to be able to be in the stadium and see it live was such an amazing experience for me.  The atmosphere was incredible and seeing Usain Bolt run was definitely a highlight for me.
  • I took part in something, that was so empowering and exciting but I cannot reveal at the moment, but a blog post will follow with all the details. I met some amazing people too, this will definitely go down as a highlight of my year.

I throughly enjoyed my time off and feel I had a good balance of earning money as well as enjoying myself. I’m ready to go back for 3rd and final year of university!
